The Background.
The project involved the refurbishment of a 1,300 square meter roof at a local school, valued at £250,000. The scope of work included extensive roof repairs, initally scheduled to be completed during the summer holidays when the school was unoccupied. However, due to an unusally wet summer, the project faced weather-related delays, causing the repair to continue after the start of the new school term. This introduced additional challenges in managing site safety and minimising disruption to school activities.
The Work.
Sennit Construction acted as principal contractor for this project, which included dismantling part of the roof, installing a new two-layer felt system, and upgrading the insulation. Additonal works involved disconnecting and reinstalling solar panels, replacing roof outlets, and applying new GRP times to the perimeter copings.
Key challenges included maintaining site security with heras fencing, coordinating deliveries to avoid disruption during school hours, and working safely on a live site after the school term began.
Despite the Challenges posed by adverse weather and operating on a live site, the project was completed on time and within budget. The newly installed flat system will:
-Protect the building's fabric and structure for years to come.
- Provide enhanced energy and efficiency
- Offer the client peace of mind with a 20 year material and workmanship guarantee.
SC meticulous planning, adherence to safety protocols, and commitment to minimising disruption ensured the successful delivery of this project, meeting both client and end-user expectations.
The Result.
